Q: How do I book an appointment?
A: To discuss with me the appropriateness of an appointment please contact me via email (kate@drkaterobinson.co.uk) or telephone (07979 591474). If I am unavailable I will aim to return your email or call within 48 hours.  If you feel that you need urgent help please contact your GP or NHS Direct (tel: 0845 4647) for further advice. The type of psychological therapy offered in independent practice is not suited to dealing with emergencies.

My clinic is based at East Molesey in Surrey. My clinic hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9.15am to 2.45pm.

As well as direct referrals from parents and carers, I also accept referrals from other professionals

A: The first appointment is usually with parents without their child, to allow parents to talk freely about their child, how they have seen the problems developing, and any additional relevant background information that might not be appropriate to discuss in front of their child. This appointment also allows parents to meet me before they introduce their child to the process. During the assessment I will ask questions about what you are concerned about, how long you have been worried, as well as more general information about your family, personal background, and your child's development.

In the second appointment, I usually meet the child/young person and their parents to find out more specifically from the child/young person's perspective what the concerns are. Depending on the child/young person's age this might be with or without the parents present.  At the end of the assessment a treatment plan will be recommended.

I can sometimes accommodate home and school visits depending on circumstances.

Q: What are the fees and how do I pay?
A:   My fees currently are £110 per hour and each appointment usually lasts 60 minutes. This hourly rate also applies if you would like me to attend school meetings, school/nursery observations, or telephone calls with other professionals.

Fees are paid by cash or cheque at the appointment unless paid through health insurance.

Q: Will what I say be confidential?
A: All sessions are private and confidential (this also included sessions for teenagers whose therapy is being paid for by their parents). However it can be helpful to share information, for example with a GP, a teenagers parents or a school, but permission will always be sought before any action is taken.

In line with my professional duty, confidentiality will only be broken if there are immediate fears for a clients safety or the safety of someone else but where possible this will occur in discussion with the client about who should be told and how.

I might discuss your care in my regular supervision with another qualified Clinical Psychologist. This is to ensure that my work is of good quality and well considered. All personal details of clients will anonymised.

I also keep computerised records of basic information about my clients, such as name, address, date of birth, contact details, Referrers name and General Practioners name. This information is securely kept and solely for my use. The details will not be passed onto anyone else.
